i have a intel 10850k with a asus tuf z490 plus motherboard i have used the intel extreme tuning utility and was able to get 5.3 ghz stable on all cores. is there a difference in overclocking using the intel software compared to doing it in the bios btw im new to overclocking

They say it is safer to overclock in the BIOS than a software utility. I'm not sure if I am correct but most likely the reason why is if you save a broken OC on a software, it will be hard to enter the system if it keeps BSODing on startup as it loads the software. Instead, clearing CMOS is faster. Not sure if I am correct here so take with a grain of salt.

you're not entirely wrong, but that's assuming you set to auto-apply. You can always get around this by booting into safe mode and removing the offending software, it is extra trouble though

idk how to apply the overclock in bios. do you know for this motherboard
