Permanent Process Priority Tool released!

Hello again as late January Santa is bringing in more of very specific and niche gifts (tools) to all you good folks here. I present you my new creation, Permanent Process Priority Tool (PPPT) which allows you to set a specific process priority level for any program and have it set permanently without having to run any resident program in order to enforce it. Instead I'm using Windows built-in function that is available in Windows, but for some reason isn't exposed to the users.

 

I've created this tool because I had to set Shadow of Tomb Raider game to HIGH process priority, otherwise its sound started stuttering and skipping and basically became unplayable as a result. So I went hunting for apps to do this and most of them haven't been updated since Windows XP days, some are payable only and others are just buggy and unnecessarily cumbersome. After finding out Windows supports such functionality by itself, I've decided to just make a simple app to do it through that and from the looks of it works great. With several key benefits...

 

Benefits:

• No installation required (portable)
• Simple and straightforward GUI
• PPPT doesn’t have to be running
• Set priority is permanent until changed or removed
• Unlike Task Manager, program doesn’t have to be running in order to control its process priority (useful for games that glitch out or crash on Alt-Tab)

Limitations:

• Real-time priority is not an option due to limitations of Windows built-in process priority feature. Use Task Manager to set Real-Time process priority (cannot be permanent unfortunately)
