I built my pc, fans and rgb turns on but no display

Erival

I recently built my pc, I went to turn it on, pressed the power button and the fans on the CPU and case spin for one second and stop, GPU fans keep spinning but there is nothing on the monitor. Rgb stays on. Motherboard rgb is on before and after I press the power button. I'm not sure why I'm not getting anything on display, can somebody please help?

My parts:

Ryzen 7 5800x

Noctua NH-U12s Black

Asus TUF B550 Plus WiFi

G.Skill 32GB (4x8gb) 3600mhz

Crucial MX500 1tb

Seagate 4TB Harddrive

MSI 3070 Ventus X2

Lian Li Lancool II Mesh

Corsair RM750X

Try some of these simple things

1) reseat your ram. take it out, put it back in and make sure BOTH the top and bottom click

2) check your cables. Make sure they work and are plugged in etc

3) make sure your monitor is turned on

4) try plugging in your display cable into different spots (on the card and the mobo)

OUTDATED JAN 2021 ===========> Check out my pc building guide! might be useful tho

It's great for planning new builds, getting a reference on where to start, or seeing what you need to play what games.

It also shows what I recommend for upgrading your stuff!

cpu - ryzen 5 3600

gpu - gtx 1070

ram - (2x8) 3200mhz

ssd - 970 evo plus 500gb

ssd2 - 860 qvo 1tb

mobo - asrock b450m hdv r4.0

psu - evga b5 550w bronze

I've tried all of those except for plugging my display cable into the motherboard. Also the 4th ram slots clip is broken but the ram seems to be seated correctly, could that be a cause of no display?

sort of, the ram is needed for it to post but the fans will still spin without it. Are you getting nothing whatsoever? or are you able to get into the bios. Modern stuff is usually smart enough where you dont need the latest graphics drivers to get a display.

I'm getting nothing on screen, no post, should I try with just 1 ram stick in the second slot?

Try turning the computer on with a single RAM stick in it. Preferably not on the broken slot--

Also: does you motherboard have debug LEDs? If so they can point exactly at what's keeping it from POSTing.

Have you updated the BIOS on your motherboard, some B550 motherboards (Mine included) wont post without a bios update to support zen 3.

if you hit delete to go into the bios it usually makes a beep. Even though you dont have display can you get the beep?
