Hey i need a nice 50$ mechanical keyboard. Recently i have been looking at the Redragon k552 but reviews say its not durable. :)

The durability issue probably comes from the switches or stabilizers.  The keyboard is really sturdy, don't have much flex and you have to really be hard on it.  The switch are swappable with other outemu switches so if one fail eventually you can replace it.  Beware that it's a really noisy keyboard, everything seems to amplify the sound of the switches, the metal plate and the hollow case under the pcb.  The spring ping is awful too and it's usually that I'm hearing more than the click of the switches itself.  I don't know why, it's a frequency I might be sensitive to.   All in all it's not a bad board, it's just that I might be picky now.

Gonna need more information on your needs than that my dude. What kind of switches do you like? Do you want full-size, TKL, smaller than that? Do you want RGB?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I'm gonna sound like an a$$, but if you want a mechanical keyboard anywhere near "decent", you're gonna need more than $50.

Nah. There are many perfectly fine cheap off-brand mechanicals on Amazon that will provide a better typing experience than any of the e-waste membrane/chiclet keyboards many people are using.

Depends on what you mean by "decent". $30 mechanical keyboards are fine, and people are happily spending $200 to get worse keyboards than those (e.g. Blackwidow, K95 RGB, Das Keyboard etc)

Ordered what? The K552? I don't know what the purpose of this thread was. You ask for recommendations without enough info for anybody to give meaningful advice and then after people try to help you say you already bought something?

Isn't it hot swappable with any mx style 3 pin keyboard switch? I've seen people put gaterons in them, pls tell me if im wrong as I don't know that much about mechanical keyboards and I'm thinking of changing my switches

the one I have is compatible only with outemu switches ... the 2 contact lead are thinner on outemu switches than other switches ... you could fit any other 3 pin or even 5 pin switches but you would have to cut or grind the 2 extra pins and also grind the contact lead to make them thinner.  That amount of work is really not worth it imo and if you intend to swap switches often you should get a gmmk or any other hotswappable keyboard.  Outemu base switches (blue, red, brown) are meh at best ... but I've heard that they make more than just those and that they are actually good.

Thanks, now I know i shouldn't get switches unless i want to de-soulder the hotswap part, you just saved me like $30

Outemu does have some nice, high end switches, if you really want to upgrade them. The Boba U4 (silenced tactile), Boba U4t (tactile), and Bobagum (silenced linear) being the most recent and best ones.

:)
