Believe it or not I haven't built a computer with a dedicated graphics card since 2009 and I have no idea about drivers. Windows detected the card and installed an Nvidia driver, which seems to be working fine. How do I know if it's the correct driver? Does Windows automatically install the most correct up to date driver? If not is there a way for me to check it manually?

Yes I'm this ignorant. I am so sorry.

Windows installs a graphics driver 1-20 revisions out of date.

You can download the latest one from either AMD or Nvidia's website, depending on whether you have an AMD or Nvidia card.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.
