So I was just playing titanfall when suddenly out of nowhere it just shuts off! When I went to see what the problem was I saw nothing visually wrong so I went to go turn it back on and nothing, no fans, no light, and no sounds.

I checked the socket, the breaker, power strip, and still nothing.

There are no lights on the motherboard whatsoever that come on, and there was no smoke or anything of the nature.

All of the parts besides the GPU and hard drive are less than 6 months old so I can still use the warranty.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance or input.

Specs should be in signature.

Nvidia did release some drivers for titanfall, you might want to try those (if you dont have them already). Secondly does this occur in all games or just tianfall? or only origin games?

Run a 30 min stress test of Unigine Valley (free download). if it all runs smoothly I think the event might be isolated to tianfall, in which case contact EA about it, not that they will do anything. They are EA afterall.

Reading comprehension fail. Do people even read the full posts, or just the title? His computer no longer turns on.

Do you have a different power supply to test? Try disconnecting stuff from the motherboard, like HDD's, ODD, etc. Bare minimum.

Oh, and you have no signature.

Wow ok, my bad for not reading that last bit.

I Agree, it sound like a busted PSU to me but could be the mobo as well if nothing is turning on. I suggest trying your brothers PSU if that is possible. And yes if you bought everything new, and it is broken you should claim warranty.

Lol all good :P First we gotta figure out what's bad. Try disconnecting the PSU from the motherboard and then short the green wire with any of the black wires with a paperclip. The green wire is the "Turn on" wire. If the PSU doesn't power on, then the PSU is bad. If it's a Corsair PSU, then the fan likely won't turn on, but if power is still going to hard drives or an optical drive, those should power on.

Yeah, I have an rm650. All black flat cables

Doubt that'd fail on you, but it happens. Try get a PSU rail tester.

The computer won't turn on. At all.

I have another power supply in my brothers computer that I can commandeer but not at the moment.

Try this....check and make sure the PSU is plugged in properly and then check the system panel connectors are plugged in all the way too. Also, unplug the power cord from the PSU and wait ten minutes then plug it back in and hit the start button.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Have you tried diagnosing your PSU? By diagnosing I mean, sticking a paper clip in a GREEN and BLACK WIRE of the 24-pin then powering the PSU up. if fan spins, its good... if not, PSU's the culprit...

I already suggested this a few posts up, he has a Corsair unit with black wires. We'll have to give him the exact pins to short. And since it's a Corsair unit, it's unlikely the fan would turn on even if the unit was good.

EDIT: @matterlord1, these are the two leads you need to short together to force the PSU on without the motherboard. Leave a hard drive or something plugged into the PSU, since the fan might not spin either way, at least you'll know something is powering up. If the PSU does power on, it's likely the motherboard that's bad.

If the above doesn't help, try disconnecting all your fans and any non-boot hard drives next time you turn on, if it does turn on, your PSU is degraded in terms of either output amperage or effect.

If that gets you nowhere, unplug the computer from the wall and remove the CMOS battery for 20 minutes then pop it back in/ try again.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Corsair units also turns on by shorting the psu...i have one i have done it before....

So, Update, I tried the other psu and just connected the 24pin and the 8pin, turned the thing on and the rear fan turned on! My h100i fans didnt because its plugged into a SATA power cable that I didn't remove. After which i proceeded to check all the cables all of whih were fine.

I think I'm going to have to call in the warranty on this PSU.

Has anyone ITT called in a warranty on a power supply?

Do you have to just send the unit and not the cables?

And how long did the process take?

I never said it wouldn't, I was merely stating that because all the wires are black, it's not as quick and painless as "find the green wire" then "find a black wire."
