Ping

I have 250mb/s download but when I play even a not so demanding game I get 25mb/s and nobody in my house can do anything except use their phones (they have cellular data) when im gaming because If they do I go from 10-30 ping to about 90-sometimes even 1000 ping. Is there any way to fix this? or should I get a ethernet cable/get faster wifi. 
context that might be helpful: I play in my room and my router is in my basement but its right under me.

If your WiFi signal is stable, then there shouldn't be any issues

 

For testing purposes, you can relocate to beside your access point and see if things improve before splurging on things that may not help

Other things that can affect are servers you play on, and even some software doing download. Some games don't take priority, so any download could shortly take full bandwidth for few seconds. Thats what you could see in your ping.
