If i install windows on an m.2 nvme in the computer shop, then i can just install that same drive into my home pc and windows will boot up right? Im asking this cuz i dont wanna take my entire pc to the shop, just the drive. In an ltt video i saw them using a storage that already had windows on it and it worked fine.

That'll work perfectly fine. Just make sure to set the boot priority in your BIOS to target the M.2 first when you get home.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Yes, it should work as far as you put that device on the priority boot option.

However, if you activate windows in another PC, that drive most likely will have the activation revoked when you put it in new hardware.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 @ 4.4GHz 1.2v / GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700 Mech OC GP (5700XT Bios) @ 2GHz / MB: Asus ROG Strix B450-F / RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 / CASE: MSI MAG Vampiric 010X
