Phone for mum

Hello everyone,

my mum is looking for a new phone, I finally convinced her to buy something more expensive, so hopefully more reliable - her past phones were some HTCs which lasted about a year to two, now she has Honor lite, and that is slowing down a fair bit too now. The budget would be 400-450 EUR. She would need good battery and good phone quality, as she takes a lot of phone calls. Good camera would be great too. The phone shouldn't be too heavy, 165g would be max, under 160g would be preferable. It shouldn't be too big either. I was looking at: Pixel 4a(non 5G) - looks great, but is said to have small battery; Samsung galaxy S10e; Samsung galaxy note 10. If it would last as long as possible, without getting too slow, that would be awesome.

I think the Samsung note 20 fan edition is a good product that suits ur needs. It's relatively high performance and has a nice battery. Hope it helps u

Thank you very much, but are you sure it's note? I can't find note. I only found S20 FE and that's 640E here. But thank you nevertheless.

Get the Pixel 4a 5G.
The 3885mAh battery is large enough. I have a Pixel 5, which has a battery size of 4000mAh. As a heavy user, the thing still lasts me around 40 hours.

Thank you, that would probably be the ideal phone, but it is like 630E here, so unfortunately, that's not in the budget. But thank you very much.

Oh I think that was the price during a promo. I'm sorry. After checking I think the note 10 is a pretty good buy at that price or you could get the OnePlus Nord for cheaper if available

The Nord was too heavy, iirc, so probably the note 10. Thank you very much.

Damn. That's ridiculous. In Germany it's 399€ at Media Markt right now or 440€ at the Google Store.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?   399 for 4a 5G that's hella good price. No I don't and I probably wouldn't buy from Germany anyway, because warranty and stuff. But 399, that's very compelling. Would you recommend any other phone than this? Thank you very much.

Nothing specific. I guess Samsung isn't a bad choice. Personally I'm not a fan of their UI.

Sadly Nokia and Motorola seem to only offer garbage.

And I'd stay away from Honor and Huawei. Bought my mum a Honor 3 years ago. It's fine, but the software is starting to have issues.

Yeah I would suggest changing to nova launcher for a start. Way better imo

Reasons being;

• Alternate charging method (wireless charging)
• Power button doubles as FP reader

 

The OnePlus Nord should not be part of the result. It is a regular sized phone (much larger than the S10e), screen actually in excess of 6.4", and weights 184g

Thank you very much. I believe the note 10 isn't there because of it's size and price, but it's fairly light as well and she would probably stretch the budget a little bit. What is your opinion on that phone? Thank you!
