you can take off the bulk of it with tissue and just apply new paste

having alcohol just cleans it that extra bit, it shouldnt affect performance much

especially if your paste is fresh, and can be wiped off

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

@Moonzyprobably has the best advice since its fairly fresh. Brake clean can also work as well if you spray it into a cloth first. It's cheap and readily available at anywhere that sells automotive related products.

Haven’t tried brake cleaner but it should work even better.  It’s orders of magnitude more toxic though.  Use caution.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Ya probably should have mentioned that, cancer is definitely a possibility. I work with it everyday so I don't really think about it anymore lol.

Most paste don't dissolve in water, so I wouldn't bother

Don't use cloth that you plan to keep, paste stain is permanent

As I mentioned earlier, you don't have to clean it too much, as long as there's no dried chunks on there, you're fine
