Hi all,

In expectation of getting a shiny new Ryzen 5 5600x, I updated my Asus BIOS to the latest version for my mobo - Version 3001 (2020/12/08) - I had previously been on 1407 iirc. Upon flashing through EZ Flash, the PC restarted but would not POST, giving the white VGA issue light. Worried it might be my GPU, I moved that from PCIEX16_1 socket  to PCIEX16_2 socket, and the system booted up fine.

Assuming that I had an error in the socket somehow, I bought a new copy of the same board, installed the system with the GPU back in 16_1, and everything worked hunky dory. The BIOS on the new board as shipped was 1407. Again, expectantly awaiting my 5600x, I without thinking updated the BIOS to Version 3001 again...and the identical issue occurred.

I've tried updating my BIOS to an older version, but been unable to (I assume I'm being blocked from overwriting with an older version), does anyone have any suggestions for fixing the problem - or am I just barking up the wrong tree with the BIOS? Any assistance very much appreciated.

System dets:

OS: Windows 10 Home (Build 19041)

Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus (wi-fi) (BIOS Version 3001)

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x

GPU: EVGA XC Ultra 2080Ti

RAM: 2 x 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 Mhz

Boot drive: WD SN750 1TB M.2 NVMe

PSU: Corsair RM750x 80 Plus Gold 750w

It seems v3001 has multiple issues across various Asus X570 boards, some similar to yours. There's a few suggestions you can try in the Reddit thread below but there doesn't seem to be any official fix. It seems that you cannot rollback after moving to v3001.

I'd advise reporting it to Asus, hopefully they're already working on a fixed version. I guess run with it in a different PCIe slot for now, or return the board and go for a board from a different brand as it seems most of Asus's X570 boards have these issues on v3001.

  • 1 month later...

Just thought I'd update, in case anyone should Google this problem, and find this thread.

After going back & forth with Asus tech support (who are not fast at replying), trying a few different things (reseating the battery, playing around with APM configurations) and no joy, they finally asked me to submit very detailed system information, and would try and recreate the issue. Scrapped all that together, sent it off, no response for 2 weeks, so chased and got a boilerplate reply saying "we're sorry to hear you are having issues, please contact your retailer to RMA the item".

Then yesterday, a new BIOS was released (3405) - I updated it immediately...and my problem is fixed! Golfclap Asus, I'll be looking elsewhere when I next need to buy a new mobo.
