What ram to get

Mate of mine wants to upgrade his ram from 16gb ram to 32gb, which one should he buy?
Motherboard : B450 Gaming PRO Carbon AC

CPU : Ryzen 5 2600X

GPU : RTX 2070

 

I was thinking maybe 3600 mhz ram to go with it, 2x16 or 4x8. Thought I should ask here as I don't really know much about current hardware specs.

I don't think many Zen+ cpu can handle 3600, try going for something more conservative

 

2x16 would be ideal

4x8 would likely limit you to around 2666mhz

 

But if you already have 2x8, getting another 2x8 isn't too bad, running at lower frequency isn't ideal but it's not the end of the world

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

2x16 3000mhz at at CL16 - 15 would be the best scenario

geometry is hard
b550 > x570

I just found this out the other day--

3200mhz (and up) is too high for Zen +

3000mhz or lower would be best.
