Upgraded GPU. Now experiencing wireless issues

Go to solution Solved by elton_overs395,

I noticed that if I used an external wireless adapter, all of the issues disappeared. I assume that internal temps of the motherboard were getting too warm after 2 hours of use the module would crash. My last card didn't run as hot as this 5700XT.

I recently purchased a used Gigabyte Windforce Raedon 5700 XT to upgrade from my Current Sapphire Raedon RX580.

My system-

CPU: Intel i7-9700F

Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Wifi

PSU: Corsair 650CXM

OS: Windows 10 64-bit V:20H2

Prior to changing the card I experienced no issues. I installed the card, booted no problem. Updated the driver for the card to Adrenalin 20.12.1.

After about 2 hours of typical, non strenuous use. My wifi connection drops and I'm dropped from my call. I opened task manager to find what was happening.

I saw that when the issue would occur, the wireless connection task inside task manager would completely disappear and die. The next morning I deleted and reinstalled the driver and the same issue occurs after another 2 hours of use. I visit Gigabyte's website to look for a new driver and installed 19.8.1. I get about 2 hours in and my wifi connection starts to drop again but I don't loose the task in task manager like it did before. This time I get spikes of alternating receiving and sending for about a 20 second episode. Then it stabilizes and will do it again a short time later. While this is happening randomly, it drops me from calls, times me out of game lobbies. Its quite annoying. I updated the driver yet again to 20.11.2 and after 2 hours of use, the wifi connection cuts in and out like it did on 19.8.1.

I have not updated my Mobo BIOS as I can not find any other issues similar to this.

used to have a similar issue with my wifi adapter, had to completely reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows via flashdrive to keep my wifi connection from disconnecting for literally no reason what so ever

your always welcome to do what i did if you run out of options, think of it as a last resort if your encountering a problem by which all means you shouldnt encounter, or if there is no logical reason why its happening.

before you try anything drastic use the amd clean up utility (use the amd clean up utility before installing new drivers on a new gpu) (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601
