Overheating CPU for no apparent reason

My PC seems to be overheating for no apparent reason, and I just wanted to check there wasn't anything else I should do/try before reinstalling windows or replacing parts. Nothing Is open that would cause this to happen, and the cooler is working/on,

I attached some images of programs showing the heat, I'm just trying to make sure I haven't missed anything! Thanks for your help!!

The cooler might not be mounted correctly. If the CPU is running hot at low % usage it sounds like it's not even being cooled.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

looks like you're using NZXT cam if my eyes are right, indicating you likely have a NZXT water cooler. Based on what I'm seeing, your pump is likely dead on your cooler.

Are you sure that:

1. There is thermal paste between the CPU and the cooler?

2. The cooler is mounted on the CPU properly?

For the life of me I can't think of a situation were installing Windows again would solve things. This just looks like the cooling solution isn't working as intended (or just simply can't cool enough, airflow issues maybe?)

Perhaps a bit more context about your situation could help us helping you.

Did you just build this PC? How long has this been going on? Did it work and cool properly at some point?

Edit: Skiiwee pointed out it might be a watercooler.

It was built maybe a year ago now, and has been worked perfectly since,

In regards to installing windows again, it seemed to help me one other time when it was just misregistering the temp as way higher than usual, but this time I can Physically feel the heat radiating from the socket, so you're probably right !

All the fans are clean and working, the GPU seems to be cooling just fine, it's just the cpu :(

I'm using a Corsair one, previously it was a NZXT, but it was a hand-me-down, so I upgraded to a current one, a year or so ago, but it most well could be the pump or something similar!! I'll definitely look into this

feel the tubes protruding from the pump/block and if they're hot, then your pump is indeed dead.

so i had this problem with my old AIO. it would overheat randomly and eventually stopped working completely. i sent it back to the shop i bought it from and they couldnt find anything wrong with it.

later i watched a video from gamers nexus on how to mount a AIO. if you mount the radiator in the front of your case with the pipes at the top the air bubbles from the top of the radiator can be drawn into the pump which means the pump starts pumping air instead of water. make sure you mount the radiator in the top of the case or if at the front with the pipes at the bottom of the case.

here is that gn video
