Part List

CPU: AMD Athlon x4 760k

Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo

MB: Asus F2A85-M Pro

Memory: Kingston Black 1600 8gb

Video Card: XFX R7 260X

SSD: Samsung 840 500gb (carried over from my laptop that died)

PSU: Corsair CX500M

Case: NZXT 210 Elite

To the point: Tight budget, about $525, but it does the job.

The cooler didn't quite fit so I cut a hole in the side panel and used a bit of fuel line around the edges. It's not the prettiest solution but it was fun and I didn't want to wait for return shipping. For the SSD I just used some scotch all weather plastic fastener strips to stick it to the back of the 5.25 cage, It works great and doesn't leave any residue.

At the moment. I'm using a 90 day evaluation copy of windows 8.1 enterprise.. I don't hate it, but I'll probably go back to windows 7 once I actually buy an os.

Backstory: This is my second build. My first was quite a bit beefier, 2600k and a 6970 with 8gb of 1600, but I was in the military at the time and having to move around a lot I ended up selling it and picking up an Asus G72. The laptop served me well for some years but died last year.. Needed a laptop for school though so I picked up an ultrabook and proceeded to be annoyed for months staring at my unplayable steam library.. so yea I wanted to put something together that would at least get me back to being capable of playing some games while also trying to save money for a wedding and a down payment for a house.

Overall it's not going to win any beauty contests or inspire much jealousy but I had a lot of fun putting it together

That's actually a really nice budget build. Nice job. :D

EDIT: I'm jealous of it. Look in my sig, and you'll know why. And Vengeance isn't even my main rig.
