i'm building a pc for someone who is replacing an old laptop.

needs to be small becuase its going into a tinyhouse
doesn't need a gpu , only used for basic tasks like internet/videos ect
upgradeable in the future (which is why we are skipping buying another laptop)
low cost (can be made faster in the future)

oh , also has to all be bought on newegg.

Core i3-10100
ASRock B460M-ITX/AC

Kingston ValueRAM 8GB x 2

WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB

Antec ISK Series ISK 300-150 Black

thats what i came up with for the base components and it's 450$ shipped. Would have went amd but the 2200g is sold out making intel surprisingly cheap right now. The ssd and ram were chosen because they are listed as compatible for the board. One thing i'm unsure of is if the 150w psu the case uses will be good enough for the cpu despite the cpu being only 65w.

For basic internet browsing tasks, 8GB of RAM is plenty (and quite a bit cheaper too). You might still want to buy two 4GB DIMMS so you can run dual-channel mode.

Just a heads up also that you seem to accidentally have put your entire post in bold font. (Or possibly it's my browser being weird, I don't know)

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

It's bold for me too.

Also, 16GB isn't necessary - 8GB in the form of 2 4GB sticks will be plenty. Other than that, great job!

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

I went with 16 so that I dont have to try and find the same stick again years from now plus those sticks are only 36$ so might as well just do two

Idk why it made the font bold
