Greetings, ive made thread about this bfore but there were no awnsers so ill try again.

 

I recently finished a build and each time i try to run two 7970's in crossfire, GPU2 Runs at 100% and GPU1 runs at 25%, when ideling. both cards ramp up to around 55-60C. is this a driver issue or is it just amd being amd ?

Define idleling. That looks pretty normal for having a game running and sitting at the main menu. On the desktop core zero should shut the second card off. If you are using an overclocking software like gpu tweak or its monitor open they launch a process named 3denable.exe and both the monitor and the process must be closed for the second gpu to shut down.

Make sure nothing like that is running and use something like speedfan or hardware monitor to check the temperatures when the second card's fans arent spinning (ie no 3d application is open).

Opening a game, gpu monitor or an application such as gpu tweak/monitor or folding@home and mining software will enable the second card untill its processes are hunted down. The second gpu will raise the temp of the first (hot air rises) and 50-60c idle temps happen.
