Hello everyone,

So you know how macOS won't let you change any settings without clicking the little "keylock icon" and typing your password right.

I got a new macbook, and tried to install an app, but it needed permission so I went to settings, only to find my password for the pc didn't work. So I tried my Icloud password to find the same result. So I tried all the rest of my passwords and still found no luck.

So I went to my account and saw my password had last been changed in 2014, so I figured I might have just forgotten it. I changed it, and tried again, but I still can not open the "keylock". My password is wrong even after I changed my Icloud password.

Do anyone know what password I need to open the keylock icon ? I know I need to change it, but I don't know what password to start with ??

Thanks in advance for the help !

You are talking about the file write locks right? I am not sure if it still the same since I haven't used any of the newer versions but I believe you right click on the HDD on the desktop and then unlock it to remove all write locks. Again, not sure this still applies to the current versions.
