Hello, as the title says i had a really bad trouble with my HDD my specs:

DELL LATITUDE D600

Intel Pentium (m) 1400Mhz "Centrino"  Processor

512 Mb RAM "DDR 1i guess"

3o Gb HDD

ok guys go ahead and laugh, i know this thing belongs to a museum, but by the moment this relic is my only computer, thing is:

I started downloading crap and a very stupid thing i did was to turn the "AVAST File's shield down" 'cause i felt that was consuming too much RAM (which i have very few :P) so, last night i turned off the thing and 3 hours ago i tried to start it and...turns out it's not working, i heard a beep and then it told me there was some "hdd error, and cannot boot" then " press F1 to try to boot again or F2 to go to BIOS" i tried it 2 or 3 times; then i used a bootable usb i had and at the 3rd try it finally booted FROM THE USB, i tried 2 more times and it finally told me there was something wrong with a file from SYSTEM32 (sorry i didn't take note of that) and i needed to insert the windows cd to fix it, i pressed "r" (for repair) and it just started as usual.

Well i most say i sold that damn windows xp cd ages ago, so i don't have it anymore, i thinki it might be a virus or whatever, i'm running the avast! scan but i'm still kinda afraid to reboot it because it could ask me to use the windows cd again (i guess i was just lucky to boot up this time).

So please tell how can i get this solved or if need to use something in bootable usb such as norton, avast or something to fix or to clean my pc, also if this gets solved wold you mind helping me making this thing get faster?

Thanks guys.

Don't get mad, get even...

To fix the CD problem, if you can get on another computer, you can make a bootable XP disk onto your USB, just google the .ISO file for your OS
