Perhaps an SSD?  You can save some money on the mobo and AIO cooler.  I'm assuming you don't need an OS as well http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3aTGk

I know it's not required, but it's good to have.

I would get a H100i rather than a H105. Also get 2x4gb ram for upgradability

Any peripherals or software needed?

He's already got peripherals and W8, so he doesn't really need anything in that department

He's already got an SSD and a 2TB HDD, The list was mainly just to put it all in one place, he's buying it all from overclockers so prices are going to change anyway

wth 4*2gb sticks ? and 1.65V ?

I was thinking 1*8GB stick, but it's unlikely he'll need that much ram and they (Overclockers) only have 2 options for single 8GB sticks  also the one's i chose were 1.5v  I couldn't find the same ones on pcpp

Suggestion :: Where possible never buy from dabs, I noticed that none of those tell you to but don't buy from them.

CPU: i5 4430 PSU: XFX 550w Ram: 8gb Patriot Viper 1600mhz

Motherboard: MSI H87M-G43 Case: Fractal Design Define R4

SSD: 840 Evo 250gb, 512gb MX100 GPU: MSI GTX 980TI Gaming Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo

Why? Dabs is fine. I've used them loads of times and never had a problem.

So I'm building a PC for a family member for around £1200

This is what I've got so far:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3aTgu

Any suggestions on improvements that could be made?

Also no storage is required.

Thanks  :)

Here's what I would get with the rationale as for why:

PCPartPicker part list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3aV2p

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£161.99 @ Aria PC) (same darn thing)
CPU Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock 2 57.9 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler  (£48.17 @ Aria PC) (cheaper but quieter than the corsair, cheaper than the corsair and still cools excellently while also having amazing looks that will go well with your color scheme)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£78.22 @ Amazon UK) (great cheap motherboard. No real difference between that and the asus maximus board)
Memory: Kingston Blu Red Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (£56.12 @ Amazon UK) (red RAM, will go much better with your color scheme. 4x2gb makes no sense and even costs more. Ideally dual channel memory 2x4gb would be better, but it doesn't really matter much)
Storage: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  (£85.03 @ Amazon UK) (you said storage wasn't needed, but if you don't he doesn't have an SSD then this is a great value. SSD should be mandatory at this price point)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card  (£389.99 @ Novatech) (same card. The quietest 780 out there. Red and black goes great with rest of the build)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (White) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£87.47 @ CCL Computers) (has a window, better yet cheaper case from fractal than the corsair 600T. Will also cut down on noise even further for a build that should be nearly completely silent even when playing games!)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  (£44.98 @ Amazon UK) (great quiet PSU made by Seasonic. Better than the corsair CX series by miles as far as the technical side of things, which I'm not going to go over because it's too complicated)

Total: £951.97 (still end up with a cheaper price even including an SSD!, much quieter than the other build thanks to a different PSU and CPU cooler as well as a case that cuts down on noise. The color scheme also isn't all over the place because this is black and red with a white case. He could also get a black define R4 w/ window as well so it would just be completely black and red)

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Why such a large case and an aio for gaming?

Why? Dabs is fine. I've used them loads of times and never had a problem.

They are terrible with returns, only issue. Took them over a month to refund my broken wifi adapter and my friend had to wait a month for a refund on a defective 7950.

Just three suggestions. A better memory part. A better psu, (the psu is actually about £6 less expensive from Dabs, but I gather you would prefer not to shop there). And the H100i instead of the H105. It is slightly cheaper and in most circumstances performs the same or better, http://www.anandtech.com/show/7738/closed-loop-aio-liquid-coolers.
