Project Phoenix

UrbanFreestyle

Budget (including currency): £0

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CAD, 3D Printing, Photo Editing, Coding, General Web Use, Maybe a little light Gaming

So here is my story...

I, like many others have had a rough time this year but I tried to make the most of it and have been making 3D printed PPE for the NHS running 24/7 and operating on 2hr sleep a night.
Sadly this came to an end when the government decided they wanted over £3k for a licence for me to make the stuff to save peoples lives.
Obviously I couldn't afford that.
Between PPE production, Furlough and then redundancies I have fallen on slightly rough times when my PC decided that it wanted to shart itself resulting in a smoky white death.
I have contacted some of the manufacturers but as I bought it all 2nd hand they are not honouring any warranty.

Thanks to the amazing community I am part of on social media I have been donated the following:

PSU: EVGA 650W GQ Semi Modular
GPU: MSI GTX 980TI Armour X2 (Painted fan surround black)
MOBO: Asus X370 Crosshair VI Hero
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X
COOLER: Stock AMD Stealth
RAM: 2X 8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200
CASE: NZXT H510i Black /Red (I have painted red bits black)

Am I missing anything I might need?
I know I will need some thermal paste to ideally re-seat the CPU cooler fresh.

Luckily I have some storage here already and everything was backed up (Thank you VEEAM!!!)
Any info would be appreciated.

Disgusting how the Government cant keep its fucking claws out of anything.  All forms of Government love their "licensing" - cant use a skill you have legally, without their permission!

On another note, I think the pairing will work well (single threaded performance of 1700) - if you can overclock the 1700 there are massive gains to be had (from alot of experience here with that chip).

Yeah it really hit me hard, My wife is a carer and they had NO PPE and neither did my local GP surgery so I would rather have a 3d printed part than nothing at all.

over 5k pieces donated but no thanks from them! (the carers and NHS staff were super happy, Interestingly the Management at the Hospital banned 3d printed PPE!)

Thanks for the feedback. I was really hoping i could find a cheap AIO to use but unfortunately my lack of budget stops that! I did get donated £25 towards one but nothing under £50 even 2nd hand!

Also since you are running 2 sticks of RAM (4 sticks and I have not had any success overclocking RAM) work on overclocking that as well.  Frequency over CL for Ryzen first gen (in gaming at least, with Cinebench 2133mhz CL14 is the same as 3600mhz CL18) RAM in my testing.  I have 2 1700's stable at 3600mhz and 3200mhz.  For gaming this absolutely helps with the lows in FPS, keeps everything nice and tight.

Thanks for the reply,. I will have a read up on clocking this, I'm hoping to go for a mild clock as it's more of a daily driver than a gaming rig but will help with my multitasking etc too

Skip the aio and get a good old air cooler. Aio's aren't magically better and basically any 280mm one is easily matched and beaten by a cheaper air cooler

I was looking at the AIOs from a style standpoint. I think really stock cooler would work as I dint really plan on overclocking much if any. Something like a 212 be good for the money?
