3070 with 6600k?

I'm using a  1080p 144hz LG monitor, basically getting this monitor has made my 1070 feel pretty inadequate hahah

In that case the 3070 will have the opposite problem, sitting around lazily waiting on the CPU to send instructions.

Hey fellas, I was wondering if upgrading my 1070 to a 3070 while still only having an i5 6600k OC'd to 4.5ghz would offer any solid difference. I will be upgrading the rest of my PC within the next year or slightly more, but I wanted some input on what you guys would do. Save up for the whole package, or just do it separated like that? I get like 75 fps in Warzone and I can barely get Cyberpunk to run on low, but I'm thinking there's a bit of a CPU bottleneck going on since my roommates have 1070s as well but run it on med-high with Ryzen CPUs. Thanks for any suggestions guys :)

What are the specs of the monitor you will use?

Almost certainly you will have a pretty significant bottleneck. But you will get better performance on average. As long as you intend to upgrade the rest of the system, upgrading the GPU first is fine.

if I were you I would get a 3060ti, and then save up money for a better CPU (3100 or 3600 for ex)

Yeah you have a point. Maybe I should just do a full upgrade when the next set of GPUs come out or something. Feels kinda whack buying a product halfway into it's life cycle when the next one is gonna be double as good.

I had a 3080 and and there was no benefit. 3070 seems to be a good pairing for 6700k so I guess a 3060Ti would be not wasting money for your 6600K.
