Decided to build a new pc after not doing so for 8 years. I hooked everything up and I get a black screen on my monitor but cpu cooling fan lights up and case fans run. HD lights flicker a bit seeming to indicate that there is hard drive activity but always a black screen.

I did the following:

removed graphics card

reseated RAM

checked cables

popped out battery on mobo and left out for 1 minute

removed cpu cooler and reseated cpu

I’m at a loss. Here are my components:

-Ryzen 7 3800x with stock wraith cooler

-AORUS B450 pro WiFi mobo
-Corsair RM750x psu

-Corsair vengeance lpx ddr4 RAM at 3600mhz 2x32GB modules

-ROG strix Radeon rx570 graphics card

-Windows 10 64 bit on Samsung Evo SSD

I don’t know what I’ve done wrong or if the mobo is shot. I’m pretty sure the parts are all compatible.

any help for a rusty system builder is appreciated.

ram in slots 2 and 4?

does the motherboard box have a sticker on it saying "ryzen 3000 series ready"? if not, you migth need to update your bios to get it compatible with the cpu.

plugged in the monitor in the gpu, not motherboard?

I had the RAM in slots 1 and 2. Tried just 1 stick in slot 1 and nothing. The box says Ryzen 3000 ready. I also tried the monitor in gpu but nothing.

Looking at their website, that motherboard needs a BIOS update to support that processor. Depending on when the board was made it may or may not have been updated from the factory. Often when things advertise "such and such ready", they just mean they know ahead of time that it will work and that they will be releasing an update to give compatibility sometime in the future.
