Why i love / hate web development

Jeroen1322

Every time I look at some Javascript I wonder just WTF the guys

who made it were smoking when they did so. I mean, the language

is just so utterly ugly, it's almost disgusting (well, to me, at

least), and that in turn makes me very opposed to working with it

(I mean, I'm a code neatfreak, I want my code to me somewhat

pretty, and with JS that's just not freaking possible, ever!).

And this isn't even taking into accout the technical stuff I

don't like about it.

Shoulda gone with Ruby.  ;)

Isn't Ruby (or the generally used Ruby frameworks) server-side?

If so, how would that have alleviated the defects of JS (which

I use for client-side stuff on my site)?

(serious question, not trolling)

Or are you making a joke about how ugly Ruby is (don't know

about that, so can't say anything about it)? If so, apologies

for not getting it. :D

I have however been digging into Perl over winter break. I

must say I quite like it. It's... peculiar, but I like it.

Ruby with Ruby on Rails is a development framework and JQuery is one of the best libraries but there are others out there like MooTools and tools like JSFiddle that make things a tad bit easier.

Ruby is a beautiful language and quite easy to work with. It uses clear and easy syntax, along with Python. My main programming languages have been JS, Java, Ruby, and a little Python and by in far Ruby is my favorite. I used to write scripts for this program called RPG Maker XP that allowed you to make little RPG's without programming knowledge while making calls to the classes they made in game and it was just real easy to work with.
