First PC build Suggestions

Go to solution Solved by Marcpc,

Budget (including currency):$2000 can

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: media consumption, document writing for school, and games, such as minecraft  and other games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

HI, I am a first time pc builder, and i was wondering if the setup that I have selected would be good for the tasks that I plan on doing with it, such as watching youtube, research, web browsing, and gaming. I would like to have games like minecraft and RPG games with the idea of having a growing game library. My budget is a firm $2000 can, excluding peripherals, monitor, and OS.

Here is the link to my selected parts.

Thanks for any help.

First off, i would not recommend buying pc parts at this time. Maybe wait until April 2021 (Estimated stock stability month), Also, get an rtx 3060 ti, as its around the same price (Im talking about msrp), and it has better rtx tech.

You can get a better CPU and Mobo combo if you drop the 2070S. If you waited until you can get a hold of a 3060TI, you'll get a big improvement. That with a 10700k and you'll be in a lot better spot. Going to the 10700k would put you on LGA 1200, the newer socket. So if you wanted to upgrade the CPU later on you could without a new motherboard. I kept pretty much everything asthetically the same. Swapped the ram out to a kit of corsair with RGB for another savings, but realistically you could keep the crucial ram you chose and still be in under budget. This build leaves room for a 3060 TI which has a MSRP of right around $600 CAD.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

The PCBuilder spec seems a little suspect. I was able to find the exact same build (assuming 2060S stock) for $300 less on PCPP:

You could probably do a bit better for the budget as well. This is assuming you can find everything in stock at MSRP:

wow! these look a lot better than what I put together.

That 9700k and mobo are old enough and have been replaced by the 10700k for long enough that they'll go through the price rise as stock runs out. Pc part picker is really nice because it compares prices on as many sites as it does. It does most of the "shopping" for you. Parts will be hard to find right now, especially the GPU. If you plan on building soon you'll have to have a lot of patience to find one. Still a very fresh released item.

If you quote people with the arrow in the bottom left of our post, or the double arrow to quote multiple people we'll know who you're talking to.
