Since around 2 weeks from now i have started to experience Some really bad audio distortion/crackling whenever i start up steamVR and have sound play though my Valve Index Headset.
Whenever this happens i also notice that the windows audio device graph isolation prosses in Task Manager suddenly starts using more and more CPU, up to over 35% in some cases (it is normally at around 0.1-0.5%)

What i have tried

  • Swapping around what USB ports the VR Headset is connected to
  • Re installing SteamVR
  • Re installing audio drivers
  • Re installing graphics card drivers
  • Re installing windows (not a clean re install, kept the programs/files/documents)
  • Uppdating to the latest version of BIOS avalible (Version 3003)
  • Tried windows troubleshooting
  • Contacting Steam Support (no answer yet from time of writing this)
  • Restarting the computer several times
  • Disabling windows audio enhancements where possible
  • Un checking "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"

So far none of these suggested fixes have worked.
