No network card detected

Hey guys

 

i have a old hp d530 motherboard that i plan to turn into a file server. so far windows server 2008 r2 sp2 installed and works.

 

but the problem is that the onboard ethernet card isnt detected. i have made sure its enabled in bios.

 

thinking the onboard was faulty i installed a pci ethernet card but still the pc wont detect its installed. device manager just show that the audio driver isnt installed and that there is no network adapters installed despite me pulling the working ethernet card from my gaming pc.

 

could the pci ports be dead or could it be a irq error.

 

if it is a IRQ error what irg should i set?

yep, but installing them doesnt matter if it cant even pick up the card there is nothing under other devices apart from the audio card

Do you see a green led turning on when a ethernet cable is pluged in? if not it is dead.

 

install the drivers from the cd you had with the MB then update the drivers via the manufacturers site.

Hi

The onboard has no led but the PCI does but the PCI card is still not being picked up in device manager

I also don't have a driver disk and are using drivers from the realtek website for my PCI card
