OK, so i have a modern computer, (build a few months ago) and a k70. What should I set the switch at the back at, 1, 2, 4, or 8?

I think that switch is for different compatabilities so the keyboard works in all bios/uefi; in which case as long as it works it doesn't matter.  At any rate, polling: faster is better.  You may notice a delay on any polling below 500hz (125. 250) generally you don't notice the difference between 500 and 1000hz unless you're running over 60 fps.

 

edit: 1000hz would be 1 ms delay, 500hz is 2, 250 is 4 and 125 hz would be 8 ms delay, which looks like it correspond to your switch on the back
