Make mic quality awful?

Hi, I wanted to make my mic quality awful because haha funny. However, when I tried to go into Sound Control Panel > Recording > my mic > Advanced, I found the sound format option was grayed out. Obviously, this meant clicking it did absolutely nothing; not even an error or something. I've tried searching everywhere for anyone experiencing this issue but to no avail. I've tried changing settings that seemed like they wouldn't destroy my computer to no avail. I would really appreciate anyone helping me with this. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Should include system specs, my mistake.
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
GPU: AMD RX 570
16 GB RAM

well I wanted to play a game while doing it so that kinda defeats the purpose of that to be fair

even then the iPhone 7 actually has a clearer mic than my PC. I just want a way to change its quality from current (DVD Quality) to telephone quality
