Would this be a good idea?

Some sort of recognition ('Awards') of stable games that have received no patches since being released: not because the developer or publisher is lazy, but because the game was released in such a refined state (ie. released when it was ready) that the game doesn't require any internet update(s) after it was released? That would include silly DLC updates too.

In the (bad?) old days of no internet (or slow and/or expensive internet) many games were released when they were ready because they had to be. Think of Game Boy and DS games. Think of PS1 and PS2 games and so on.

Would it be an idea to recognise companies still doing it old-school style? Your thoughts are appreciated.

The fact that releasing a game before its ready being common place is down right ridiculous. I have no problem with games being delayed a month so it ships finished.

We (culture) have become too accepting of software being a "service" and expecting follow up patches or DLC's to fix a released game before it ready for deployment.

I dont think companies should be awarded for doing the job expected of them.

Awards for doing the job beyond expectations is acceptable.

I dont award a builder for giving me house not finished so why would I for anyone else?

As @SansVarnic said, the fact that games are released before being ready is crazy. Furthermore, it's downright redonkulous for something like this to even need to be thought of. If it takes a reward for studios/publishers like ea and Ubisoft to make and release a good game without needing dlc/patches for it to be good, I guess that's what we need. It's maddening that patches for non-bug related things need to exist, at least for half baked launches. GTA v and online are good examples for what a launch and post launch should be. The game is fully complete, sans a bug or a few, and free(!) Content is released periodically, but it never feels like that content was essential right from the get to (for the most part)

I guess I resent the need for paid dlc the most. I don't mind ongoing support and patches for an already good game, but if content that should've been in there from the get go (looking at the sims) is missing and behind a paywall (a couple hundred dollar one for the sims) it's maddening

Sorry for the related topic rant. I've been playing sims 4 recently, so I needed to get this off my chest. The answer for this type of award: if it needs to exist it needs to exist

Thanks for the responses, gents.

Normally I am very critical of awards (they are mostly sales tools and promotion for those giving out the awards and those receiving them) but I am pretty tired of games being released unready & tied to the internet umbilical cord.
