You might be thinking of primocache. There’s several ways to do that though. Intel does one, AMD does one, microsoft does one, and then there are 3rd party solutions. The intel and AMD ones are free but are specific to their CPUs. The Microsoft one (readyboost) comes with windows. The third party apps (there are many) can be free or cost money. Iirc primocache is gimpware. It’s free for a period then you have to pay money.
