Getting shocked!

Januka Chandrasena

Guys,

I just got a new UPS and I noticed something weird. Whenever my hand rubs against the rear I/O or the metal side panel of my case, I get a slight electrical shock! I didn't have this problem when I was running direct from the wall and when I didn't have the UPS so I'm guessing it's either a random extra wire that's floating around, rubbing against my case that's giving me the shocks or that there's some grounding problem?

I wanted to know if this is harmful to my PC so that I can take a deeper look and mess around with my cables better.

I think this is a grounding issue but don't quote me on this

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

What is this UPS being used for?  What is the total load capacity on the UPS?

If you try to touch the back plate again just after getting the electical shock, you get it again, or not? maybe it is that you just have static on you from rubbing on the chair or something..

What it the ups do you use?

And Guys, I have some random UPS
To be exact it's a colors IT super power 650VA UPS

This UPS is a simulated sine wave one, is not really meant to operate for sensitive stuff like computers... this might be why you get shoked randomly i think.

I think that with an UPS with a non simulated sine wave it would work properly for your pc
