PSU Making noises when increase FPS

Go to solution Solved by Bouncewasp,

Interesting, I also think I have this issue with my PSU and it's an EVGA 600w 80+ white. I was convinced it was the gpu but I'm the same as you, noise seems to come from near the plug area. Its not shorting or anything like that and the noise can literally on/off as you go from menu to game, for example.

Be interested to see if anyone can confirm the issue.

My Evga 650W bronze certified power supply makes noises when put under higher FPS loads and certain game movements. I’m thinking it’s coil whine but idk what to do especially since I built it a week ago. It is paired with an Evga GeForce rtx 2060 super.

Welcome to the forums!

Are the noises high pitched? It is not uncommon for coil whine to present itself in certain situations.

High pitched noises are hard to pinpoint, so we actually don't know what component is making coil whine, though the two most common components are the PSU and GPU

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Yes! It is high pitched and I’m 80% sure it’s the psu. I originally thought it was the gpu but I isolated the sound near the plug on the psu. Also maybe or maybe not related, with v-sinc off at 120 FPS I have low frames but with v-sinc on with 120 FPS I have the correct amount of frames. Is this also normal?
