Hi guys, My mother boead has 1 cpu fan header (4pin) and 1 chasis fan header that is only 3 pin. Now i bought an aio and i dont know where to plug it in. And also i have 3 other chasis fans (all 4 pin) should i simply put a splitter on the cpu 4 pin header and plug evrything in there ?

Any Help is appricated! Please correct me if I´m wrong!

1 FAN header on MOBO usually is capable of 1A (12V), so that's 12W.
Usually one fan takes roughly about 1.5-2W.

If you use a splitter with external/additional power source, you can plug as many as you wish.
If not - 3-5 fans shouldn't be a problem.

What I would do - I would buy handful of Arctic P12 PWM PST (40 pounds for 5-pack) or P14 if you have space for 140mm fans. They use only 1W.
They have something called PST - it is a PWM Sharing Technology, it regulates fan speed synchronously. You plug one of them to one header on MOBO, and they all get the signal from it. You connect all fans to each other.
It might get tricky when you have a long distance between them, but usually you can get around that.
They have very good bearing, they are reasonbly priced, they have 10 year warranty, they are quiet, and they have a lot of static pressure - which is neccesary in AIO/radiators usage/applications.

If you want use what you've got - a splitter is a good idea :)
Keep in mind the power usage of certain fan, and remember that usually one PWM connection on MOBO gives you roughly 12W.

I already have a splitter with a molex connector, but will it be a problem that i plug the aios pump and all the fans into 1 output?

With fans - it's not a problem. I'm not sure about AIO. I'm not a big fan of LC :) I prefer good old air so I have close to zero experience with that unfortunately.

Oh ok, well i hope it wont be a problem. I will post a simular topic later today.

you should post this topic in cooling or ask a moderator to move it imo.

(report this topic and ask for it to be moved)

Afaik it's not advisable to use more than 2 fans on one connector because they can easily use more than ~2 watts and it may actually fry your mobo or at least the header...

But I'm no expert in this at all it's just what I remember I was told (and own research)

the bottom line was never connect more than 2 fans to 1 header...

That might be true, when you have power hungry fans :) Fans such as Arctic P12 need close to nothing in terms of power.

Even if my fan spliter has a molex connector? Doesnt that mean that all the power is puller form molex?

Any Help is appricated! Please correct me if I´m wrong!

If the splitter has a molex connector - fans should get power from it. At least that's how all SATA-Powered splitters work.
