Hi, so I was wondering if anyone can help me find a good and 100% reliable File backup software (must be freeware). I've tried a few but they were all not so good.

Must have the option for incremental backup. I would also prefer it not backing up as an image but as files I can still access (like file history in win 8). For system i use Windows bacup, and for files i currently use file history but i dont trust it because it seems to leave out some files from time to time (i check it every once in a while and it s not all there, minor differences but i need all my files backed without any exeption).

So really If any of you know some really reliable File backup software please share it with me.

PS: System i use is Windows 8.1 Pro. I have to bacup 1.5 TB of files from my WD 2TB HDD to another 2TB HDD. Dont mind the system backup, for that I use and will keep using windows backup.

Hey,

Personally i like to use Windows 8's File History because it just simply works, i haven't had any problems with it myself!

But in terms of full system backups i like to use  Easeus ToDo Backup. You can find it here  http://www.easeus.com/backup-software/tb-free.html. Used it several times when repairing other peoples computers and has always worked without fail.

Easeus say:

  • FREE, safe and reliable backup & disaster recovery software for home users
  • Simple-to-use, just one-click to back up system, photos, music, videos, documents, and applications in case of any disaster problems
  • Disk clone, disk upgrade and SSD migration solution

I've used Norton Ghost before i know it's not freeware but i've found it particularily good.

Hope that helps!

I use Duplicati and have configured it to encrypt my files before uploading to Amazons S3 cloud service. It supports a whole lot of cloud storage, or local storage configurations with varying levels of encryption.

I use AOMEI Backupper

  • It's free.
  • It has Incremental Backups. And Differential if you want those too.
  • It does save the backup as an image file, but you can mount that image file with AOMEI where it will be view-able as another attached HDD so the files are viewable (though it's read-only). If you want all of them back, just run a restore of the image. If you want only a few back, copy/paste from a mounted virtual HDD of the backup.
  • It has options for cloning drives and for VSS intelligent data backup (means that when it backs up files that are in use, it won't cause more I/O overhead).

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.
