I am looking to buy a cpu but I don't know whether I should save money and buy a 3600xt or pay a little more and wait an eternity for the 5600x to get in stockw. I will do light video editing at 1440p and occasionally 2160p, and light gaming like among us, minecraft, fortnite, and games like that.

for 1440p and 4k gmaing there is not that much of a difference. But since oyu do editing what about 3700x?

5600x is still better at gaming, but 3700x is a little bit faster at editing.

So which do you do more? Gaming= 5600x, Editing=3700x.

For 4k gaming there is small difference between the two. at 1440p some difference. if you play ta 4k get 3600XT

for over 100hz you should get decent cpu and decent gpu combo. what gpu do you have? Since you have over 100hz 5600x makes more sense.

i don't have a gpu yet but i think i'll get rtx 3070.

rtx 3070 is very good for 1440p. Now look benchmarks with rtx 2080ti/rtx 3070 and with ryzen 5 3600/3600x/3600XT/5600x  (since 3070 is just 2080ti with less vram) and check the results. But with 3070 and lets say ryzen 5 3600 you can get over 144fps on max setting at FN easily.

But do you think it's worth the extra $40?

5600x is only 40$ more? then it is 100% worth to wait. 5600x is so much better, it almost matches 3700x at multicore benchmarks and 5600x is better/ on par with 10900k in gaming right now, with less power usage, and also heats up much less, cheaper motherboard, cheaper cooling etc

so the 3600XT is 40$ more than 3600? then it is not worth it.

No. it has only 0.3ghz higher boost clock than 3600. And you can not reach taht boost clock without proper cooling either. So 3600 would be better choice or 3700x at editing.

I will get the Corsair iCUE H115i RGB Pro XT, and do you think it's worth it for gaming? Ik that fortnite doesn't really need the extra 10 frames, but I like to get the best performance possible without spending a fortune. Ik thats literally what the 3600 is for but I heard the 3600xt isn't a bad cpu. I just want a cpu with decent clocks, good stability, some overclocking headroom and just something that sounds cool.

It does look cool, and another reason is because i want my ram, cooler, and case fans to be able to link up together for rgb. Also, what is the price of that aio?
