GMMK PRO, DROP CTRL & GMMK USBC VERSION

Don't hate me but I like RGB. I hate the unicorn puke rainbow crap but I like to have a solid color usually always blue. I play games at night and I just like the way the light looks shining through the legends. I am thinking of pre-ordering the GMMK pro that is going to ship q1 of next year. However, so I'm not sold on south-facing LEDs and probably only going to use OEM keycaps. My question is how dim will the legends look if the LeDs are self-facing and the legends on the keycaps are up near the top AKA North facing I guess? The barebones GMMK pro will be $120.

Other options:

Is the Drop CTRL barebones (on sale $130) worth the price increase compared to the GMMK bare bones (usb c version, $69)?

Between these three options I'm really stuck. I know North facing switches have compatibility with Cherry keycaps and all that crap but I don't see myself using those so it doesn't really matter to me.

I have a custom keyboard that is similar to the GMMK Pro in that it has south LEDs, except on a few specific keys, and a high profile case. It gives a nice backlight but I don't use translucent legends, solid keycaps here. I'd say most of the nicer keycaps out there don't have translucent legends.

GMMK bare bones is a pretty basic keyboard and nothing real special going for it other than price. Doesn't support QMK/VIA firmware.

Drop CTRL is more expensive but does support QMK/VIA firmware which allows for greater customization of the keys.
