My brother is opening a tattoo shop and asked if I could build him a setup for the front desk. Mainly for spreadsheets, managing applications, timesheets etc. for his business. He doesn't want anything flashy or top tier, he just wants something simple and functional.

Can you guys give me some input on this list?:

EDIT: his budget is strictly 400 (after taxes & shipping), give or take a few bucks

Psu is overkill. Get a lower end apu or go to an intle pentium or i3. Get 8gb ram, it really helps.

i highly recommend the intel g3220, really lower power usage and its pretty damn fast for what it costs, i run one in my home server that boots off an old 64gb ssd and it boots as fast my gaming rigs, its really smooth opening programs, i also have one in my work pc and it handles plenty of multitasking (i do lots of excel at work and lots of internet tabs)

An I3 (doesn't really matter which one 2 gen and up) or FX-4300 would probably be a better choice as this rig needs to endure years without upgrades.

the cheapest i3 chip is over $100, and paired with an intel chipset would be well over his budget. sticking to amd apu's since a dedicated gpu wouldn't be price efficient also

this might actually work. i plugged in the g3220 with the cheapest/decent motherboard (msi h81m-p33) and it's just a few bucks more than the 5400k build. Do you think it would be a better build with the g3220 over the 5400k?

g3220 is half the power consumption (40w vs 80w) so half the cost to run and has much better single threaded performance, which for basic programs should be quicker, should also run cooler and require less noisy fans

unless he needs multithreaded support but not sure if programs like excel and word and programs of that ilk take advantage of it

CPU wise it's a bit more powerful and he really doesn't need that powerful of graphics so I'd say go for it.
