Confused between two laptops spec options

I'm looking into buying the ASUS TUF A15 and i'm confused on whether i should get a 1660ti with 144hz display or a 2060 with a 60 hz display as theyre both almost the same price and i cant afford the 2060 144hz.

I do play competetive games and eye candy games so I'm not really sure which one I wanna go for.

Does 144hz really make that big of a difference?

I know the 2060 is about 15-20% better in games, but I dont know where I could place the refresh rate upgrade in comparison

144 vs 60 is highly noticeable. However the performance delta between the 1660TI and 2060 is something you cant ignore either. It all depends on what extra comes with the 2060 model that makes it worth dropping the 144 Hz display. If all thats different is the GPU then go with the 1660TI. If the 2060 model has better specs elsewhere as well then go for that

What games are you looking to play at 144 Hz? A 1660 Ti really isn't any more powerful than a 2016-era GTX 1070, iirc. Having a 144 Hz panel does not mean that the system is capable of actually using it, and "eye candy" suggests you want to use that display.

If it were me, I'd get the 2060/60 Hz system, but if you're doing this for LoL or DOTA2 or something similarly goofy, sure, a 1660 Ti with a 144 Hz 1080p screen makes sense I guess.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
