Decreasing Power Limit of GPU to fit PSU

What would happen if I decreased the power limit to say 70 percent (of a 6800XT 300w gpu)? I plan on getting a 6800, but if I get the 6800XT and under power it, will it hurt the gpu or my PSU? My current PSU is 650w Evga SuperNova G5 with a R5 2600 PSU.

 

I heard using the 6800XT and a 2600 CPU would be pushing my PSU too hard  Would under powering the GPU be a viable solution? I anticipate losing some performance, but would that performance be any better than a 6800 for 80 dollars more until I decide to get a bigger psu or should I settle with the non XT?

No it will not hurt your GPU at all. You are fine with 6800XT with 650w EVGA.

You just need to get a Wall-Watt-Meter to actually see how much wattage your desktop actually using..

 

My Brother in-law has 2080TI OC with i5-10600K in full load game He was only pulling around 400-530w. 370-400w on EA Sports game (max settings). But on RDR2 it was going 400-530w depending on game settings. But at ULTRA it was over 500+watts. It never reach 600w So you are safe.

Nice. I got this from OuterVision too. With 2600 amd 6800XT paired with my exact system specs plus adding a NVME ssd.
