Cloning from 1 HDD to a RAID array

Go to solution Solved by Leonardo352,

I found a solution. My motherboard has specific SATA slots that cannot handle RAID arrays (dubbed SATA_A1 and SATA_A2). By plugging the old hard drive into one of these slots windows was able to detect and use the hard drive while in RAID mode. My old hard drive has now been cloned onto the RAID 0 of the new drives.

Recently I bought 2 new hard drives to replace my 10 year old hard drive I've been moving from system to system. My plan was to set up the new ones in a raid 0 array and then clone the old one onto them. Individually I know how to do all the steps. The issue is my pc won't recognize the old drive when I have the sata config set to raid in the bios.

Can someone help me achieve this end goal of cloning my single, old drive to a raid array of new drives?

Yeah.. basically it won't get recognized unless it's RAID too and if you do that it will get wiped.

You don't have m.2 or external drive to move data to temporary?

Nope :(

I have a mostly filled nvme boot drive. I could clean it up and move things I don't want lost onto it. But the old drive has more than 1TB of data, so picking out ~50GB of stuff I wanna keep would be disheartening.
