Pcie bottlenecking 710 gt ?

Go to solution Solved by Levent,

GT710 is X8 only, as for bottlenecks, I highly doubt your main bottleneck will be PCIE bandwidth.

Well, I recently "upgraded" an old desktop's gpu  from a 9500GS to a 710 gt (ddr3 version overclocked to 1327 Mhz core and 1050 MHz memory) for extra performance and compatibility but I am facing something strange : Under gpu-z I can see that the card runs in a x8 mode and not in x16 ,(which is the actual length of the card), as it should and this doesn't change under stress circumstances . Now I would like to ask this. Does this problem (the card runing in x8 mode), alongside my already ancient p5k motherbord with pcie 1.1 would bottleneck the gpu performance. Also note that previous gpu had no issue whatsoever to run under x16 mode.

Also before you ask  : Yes I already have updated the drivers and windows and tried to clean and reset the card to the motherboard.

My build : And yes I know that for modern standars this is total CRAP but it is what it is and it's mine so.....yeah 😐

CPU: Core 2 Duo E8600

RAM : 7gb 667 mhz, overcloked to 800mhz

MB: Asus P5K

GPU: 710 gt

OS: Windows 10 64bit

Bootdrive: Verbatim Vi550 S3 SSD

Cooler: Arctic 11 LP

PS: Sorry for any bad grammar or spelling as English isn't my mother language in my country

You can probably run that GPU at PCIe x1 and get all the performance out of it

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.
