I recently bought a new screen i went from a 1080p to 1440p and after that i started getting artifacts while gaming, stretched textures and blinking squares of different colours. I then downloaded Asus own gpu software and lowered the power target which made them dissapear. I'm wondering if it's my gpu or if i need a new psu. I've also been getting Machine_Check_Exception when i'm running on normal power settings. And when playing Battlefield 1 i get Dx error that says something about "software issues or that the gpu has been disconnected from the motherboard"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

specs:

Rog Strix Gtx 1080

Intel i5 9600k

16 gb ram

500w psu

Artifacting is typically a sign of a failing GPU (or a counterfeit GPU, but that was quite common with GPUs bought off eBay that were shipped from China)

artifacting can also happen when undervolting your gpu to an extreme extent, and also when overclocking.

when it says that the gpu device has been disconnected or removed that usually means "at least for me" that the gpu/gpu driver had crashed and automatically restarted, which happens when overclocking (usually), its also worth mentioning some games dont mind overclocking like say warzone, grounded, or minecraft those games usually dont mind overclocking while games like warframe and fortnite will almost always crash within 30 minutes after an overclock, but this also depends on the gpu as well, whether or not the game crashes.. at least to some extent

another thing on artifacting, some applications get artifacting when you overclock while others dont. but if you got it on your desktop then there is a serious problem with your gpu.

Calm your pants.

Some people like me like to tinker with pc parts,  I oc memory and voltage so gpu can boost it's core higher.

The card has an factory overclock, could this be the issues? and i have never had a problem with artifacts on desktop it only under heavy load.
