Mobo with 3600 ram?

Hey guys,

I've been working on making and buying a list for a pc build, and I've bought everything but mobo and ram. Currently on my list is a Gigabyte B550 Gaming X and some 2*8 3600 ram. I just wanted to double check, does my mobo support 3600 ram without overclocking?

no, but you can just use xmp. It is technically a "overclock" but its meant to functuon like that.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Is there anything extra I need to do for xmp or is it just plug and play?

you need to enable XMP in BIOS (it may be called D.O.C.P on Ryzen)

and its not always guaranteed to "just work" there are too many factors that may interfere with the XMP just working properly and you may need to manually tinker with it if it does not.

But most of the time it should "just work", especially if your RAM kit is on the QVL list.

Would it be fine if I just bought 3200 ram or would you recommend 3600? I'm going to be running the new ryzen 5 5600x.

Update: did some more research of my own and decided 3200 MHz is enough. Thank you for giving me a place to start my research with the QVL list!
