So I have been having issues and after some testing narrowed it down to some bad memory. I have GSkill ram 4 x 8GB chips that are supposed to be able to run at 3600. When I turned off XMP and dropped them down to 2133 I ran stable. The odd thing is the CPU temperature difference between running the ram 3600 vs 2133 is significant. We're talking 88C at 3600 vs 57C at 2133 running the Prime95 torture test for a while. Since when does RAM affect CPU temps like this?

Speed affects the momory controller, which is on the CPU-die.

But these results are probably partially to blame on Prime95.You shouldn't use that. That's as far away from real-world use as you can possibly go.

Slow RAM bottlenecks the CPU, so it's doing less work. Less work, less heat.

yes in my case turining on xpm does produce more heat on prime 95, maybe because of going from 1.2 to 1.35 Dram Voltage.
