This setup or better?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

This would be overall a better gaming machine: And, in the future, you could put in an i5 or i7 and better GPU.

CPU:  Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($99.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD2 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($54.79 @ Amazon)
Memory:  Kingston Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card:  MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($159.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $525.70
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-03-12 19:11 EDT-0400)

Add $20 if you don't want to drive 4 hours to the Micro Center in Boston.

In all honesty, the reason I chose Intel is because there is actually an upgrade path and while it may be a dual core, it can hold up to AMD's 4 and even 6 core chips (in many ways) in gaming.

What is a better 1080p gaming system for this price?

CPU:  AMD A10-7850K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($179.99 @ TigerDirect)
Motherboard:  ASRock FM2A88X EXTREME4+ ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($72.99 @ Newegg)
Memory:  Kingston Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Case:  Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($55.99 @ Mwave)
Total: $512.90
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

-snip-

I vote for the i3 path.

I would do this system, but personally, with the EVGA card (SC version). It's pre-overclocked, and runs very cool/quiet.

The I3 would be nice but the motherboard isn't the best I want to see what I can come up with.

In all honesty, the suggested i3 setup is much better than any AMD setup posted here. It's a very good base gaming system for 1080p gaming. Plenty of room to upgrade in the future. That's what I'd choose if I were you.

Perfect setup, not sure if you could even get something better for that price. I would probably get a better case/ Rosewell Capstone PSU/Better motherboard if this was a personal build though.

Thanks to everyone who decided to participate :)
