PC Specs,

HP Prodesk 400 G6 SFF

CPU: Intel Core i3 9100

Ram 8GB DDR4

Storage: 258GB M.2 SSD

Power Supply:180W

Trying to upgrade to i7 9700K,

Updated BIOS both through the BIOS menu (gives option for network bios update, gets it straight from HP's Servers) (ver 02.07.01)

Using HP's support assistant,

Updated the chipset files from the HP website. (don't think its the correct chipset files i need)

When the i7 9700k is installed the pc beeps 3 long beeps then 4 short beeps. No boot screen, continues like this until i power it off.

(Im hoping its not the power supply since looking again, the i7 8700k is tdp for 95w whereas the i3 9100 is tdp 65w)

HP blows goats. They've probably got a whitelist of allowed CPUs in that system, and the one you are trying isn't on the approved list

I spoke to their support for about an hour in which first they said it was compatible then after trying a few things, then speaking to their superior, it wasn't on their supported list of CPU's.

I want to rule out the possibility of  the power supply being the issue, also if there is a non hp bios I could use.

Nope, you'd brick your PC if you try.

The beep codes you get are listed on the motherboard manual's page, and they will tell you the meanings. My guess is "unsupported CPU"

HP website says the 9700K is not a compatible CPU.

Though, getting the K version of the CPU was a bit of a waste since you can't overclock, I recommend an i7-9700 or i7-8700, whichever you find for cheaper.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?
