So I have a thermaltake 850 that is like 7 years old. Running strix 1080, 9900k, Asus strix motherboard. When I entered the room the computer was off. My logitech speakers and my motherboard and graphics card was showing I was receiving power. However when I attempted to turn on my computer, there was a chirp that came from the power supply, and nothing happened. I tried unplugging from the back of the computer, then replugging and the same thing happened. I took my computer apart blew everything out just in case, then reassembled everything and nothing changed. Is this my power supply or something else?

You seem to think it is.  Could it be something else? Sure.  In any case, if the PSU is out of warranty and more than 5 years old it’s kind of due for replacement on general principal anyway.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

It's 7 YO PSU and a Thermaltake.

Replace it.

I guess what I was trying to say is even if a PSU replacement doesn’t fix the problem it needs to be done anyway and won’t be wasted money whether it fixes the machine or not.  Even if the most extreme situation occurs (doubtful) and the whole machine has to be junked and replaced you’ve still got a PSU to work with.

One question becomes is the machine worth throwing money into to fix in the first place?  This is unknown because there are no specs.

Probably yes, could you try running this PC with another PSU temporarily ? What is the PSU model exactly ?

9900k, strix 1080, 32g dominator platinum. Im scared that it is a dead CPU because the graphics card and motherboard lights are on but the system is not powering on

You sure ? Because that's code for Thermaltake DPS G RGB Gold, it's not that old.

I bought it when they released the 6700k, so it's definitely not new

But first, 6700k isn't 7 years old either, it was released in 2015. Second, where did you get that code from ? Can you just tell what's written on the PSU ? Regardless, we really don't know if it's a PSU or not, you need to test this system with another PSU.

So worth the money.  But a new decent PSU, throw it in and see what happens I guess.
