Bargain Laptop

Looking into two bargain laptops for my mom.

 

Options are a Ryzen 3 4300u with 4gb (<$329) or a Ryzen 5 3500u with 8gb (<$399). I know most of the benchmarks have the Ryzen 4300u overall trumping the Ryzen 5 3500u but not sure if the 4gb vs 8gb will even things out.

 

My mom uses it mostly for word docs, internet use, email, etc ... Ideas?

what models? Id focus more on the build quality, screen, battery and other things than the cpu used. FOr normal use, the cpu won't matter.

 

Can you upgrade the ram in the laptop?

 

Id go 8gb if you can, and make sure it has a ssd.

Both Lenovo. Ryzen 3 is 128gb SSD, touchscreen FHD IPS, 10-hour battery life 14-inch, Ryzen 5 is 256gb SSD, FHD IPS, 6-hour battery life, 15.6 inch. Upgrade of RAM not possible on Ryzen 3. Ryzen 5 has 4GB built-in with a DIMM slot with an additional 4gb.

what model numbers?

 

Id get the ryzen 5, seems like a better package overall, the faster cpu won't matter here. Extra ram + disk + battery is nice.

Ryzen 3 is 81X2000HUS. Ryzen 5 is 81W1009DUS.
