Does running multiple monitors affect performance?

Looking to add a second monitor to my setup! (1080p/60hz)

Looking to use the second one for watching livestreams and videos... Will this affect my fps much and is it worth the hassle? Specs under my post!

It's not really as simple as that. Watching live streams and videos from the likes of Youtube will definitely affect performance as it takes CPU power and if enabled, will use GPU decoding.

Admittedly, this is more to do with the application running rather than running another monitor, but it will still have an affect on performance and generally it will be noticeable. I notice the difference in FPS and frametimes when watching Youtube videos and playing a game, even with a 3900X. I did a bunch of testing a while ago to see what difference multi-monitor setups have and found that 1080p Youtube had a pretty big impact on performance in games.

The second monitor will make no difference to performance, but what he plans to do with it, that will make a difference.

True, I do suppose I looked over that.

Generally it will be fine*

Thanks for the Roundup

So it would be better for me to buy a good monitor instead of two alright ones and continue to watch videos on my phone?
